French Food Friday - Pommes au four
I had to smile when I saw this recipe on the le creuset website as we loved baked apples and ironically have some similar dishes which I have never thought of using to serve our baked apples in.
It is a great idea as I am sure it is easier to eat them this way. I normally serves ours on a large plate with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream arranged in a small dish.
Pommes au four
Ingredients
4 medium golden apples 30g unsalted butter 1 vanilla pod 60 g of brown sugar 2 good pinches of cinnamon powder 1 pinch of anise seeds 1 pinch of caraway Pinch of salt 1 sheet of aluminum foil
Directions
1.Turn on the oven at 160°C. 2.Wash the apples, dry them and place them in the pan without peeling them (stems upwards). 3.Cut the butter into small cubes and sprinkle over the apples. 4.Sprinkle with brown sugar, then cinnamon and anise and caraway seeds. 5.Cut the vanilla pod in half lengthwise – open it and scrape the inside with the blade of a knife to extract the seeds – distribute the seeds thus harvested over the apples – insert the open stick on the apples. 6.Sprinkle with a pinch of salt. 7.Cover with a sheet of aluminum foil. 8.Place in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes. 9.Serve warm.
bon vendredi a tous ♥
