French Food Friday - Croque monsieur chèvre et jambon
TGIF, it has been a long and busy week. We are looking forward to the weekend.
Goat's cheese is one of my favourite French cheeses and thankfully we can now buy a sliced version which is perfect for toasted sandwiches.
This week I am sharing a recipe from the manufacturer of our favourite sliced goat cheese.
Goat Cheese and Ham Croque Monsieur
Serves:4
Preparation Time:5 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
8 slices of Goat Cheese
4 slices of ham
8 slices of wholemeal bread
Butter
Green Salad
To transform this recipe into a croque-madame, add a fried egg on top after cooking the croque-monsieur. For an even more indulgent touch, use a runny egg yolk and sprinkle with a pinch of Espelette pepper or fresh herbs.
Methods:
1.Spread one side of each slice of bread with butter. On the buttered side, place a slice of goat cheese, then the ham, and another slice of goat cheese. Cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side down, goat cheese side down.
2. Add a knob of butter to each outer side for easier removal and a more tender texture.
3. Bake the goat cheese croque in a toasted sandwich maker until golden brown and the cheese is slightly oozing. Without a toasted sandwich maker, brown the croque in the oven using the grill.
4. Enjoy the croque with a green salad. For a better presentation, cut it in half diagonally.
Bon appetit a tous ♥
