Home Made Oat Protein Bars
I adore my protein bars but the price has increased a lot since I first started purchasing them so I have started making my own. I like mine pale but I got distracted when making this batch and managed to rescue them in time hence they are a little too well done for my liking.
Home Made Oat Protein Bars
Ingredients
1 3/4 cups quick cooking rolled oats
1 scoop protein powder
2 medium sized bananas - mashed
1/2 cup natural organic peanut butter or any other nut butter
1/2 cups rasins - finely chopped
1 tsp vanilla essence
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
2. Grease and line a baking tray or if you are using a bar shaped mold, just grease with butter or baking spray.
2. In a large bowl mix rolled oats, protein powder and rasins together.
3. Using a smaller bowl mix the mashed banana and peanut butter together. Add in the vanilla essence and mix again.
4. Place mixture into the tin and spread evenly using a spatular or back of a spoon.
5. Bake for 20 mins until lightly golden. Cool then cut into bars.
Notes
You can use any nut butter, I have tried a variety of butters and they all work, it just depends on which you prefer.
To give you an idea of calories, the total calories is 1600 and then you divide by the number of bars you have made.
Be careful if you are using peanut butters as many have sugar added, I use a 100 % peanut butter which has nothing added in it.
You can use any flavour protein powder you like, I normally use vanilla.
You can add in nuts, dried fruit or chopped chocolate but this will increase the calories.
Happy and healthy Friday ♥
