What is a bouillotte Lamp?

 

The bouillotte lamp is one of the most famous design products in history, especially in the 19th century.

Originally, this lamp was designed as a card game accessory, from which it takes its name: the bouillotte.

The "bouillotte game" was popular in France, especially during the French Revolution, a French card game that appeared in the 18th century and based on three of a kind. The lamp was placed in the center of a pedestal table, with a marble top, designed to play the "bouillotte game". Its dome-shaped base made up of notches, intended to receive at each turn a small part of the tokens which were generally intended for the staff of the house at the end of the game.

It is therefore the need to make objects as practical as they are pleasant, that makes them successful.
