Your advice is required......

{yes or no}

I am thinking about stocking these lovely linen bags which come complete with embroidered initial. You can pick your initial so this is why they are a bit different to other bags.

They are fully lined, complete with zip up pocket inside the bag, being the perfect place to put your valuables. The straps are leather and it is a sturdy bag.

I have been using the bag for a week now and find it great for shopping.

They will retail for 30 euros(39 USD/25GBP/42AUD).

I would be very grateful if you could let me know what you think of them.

Mille mercis,

Leeann x

  1. Lovely & rustic looking I can just see a couple of French Loaves sticking out the Top,looks a decent size too for the Beach or Shopping and as you said different to a lot of bags out there yes I like them very much.
    Cheers from Jacki in OZ

  2. Looks tres chic. I'd prefer them without the initial I think. They look great and I'd be a proud owner..:)

  3. Yes, yes they come with different initals i think they are wonderful.

  4. I think it's lovely - a grown-up alternative to all those freebie cotton tote bags I've accumulated! And the fact that you can personalize it with initials makes it a great present.

  5. Just love the whole look and the red initial just tops it off!

  6. LOVE it!!! But I'm addicted to

  7. Looks great and love the initial. Have a thing for letters (especially in red) and use them to decorate my home. Could see one of these hanging in my hall ready to be taken out shopping.

  8. I love the rustic look and how roomy it looks. Great bags!

  9. Leeann, I like the look of the rustic fabric, leather handles and red initial. The red is perfect! I think the only thing I would change is I would make the initial in a different font, with more curly ends, a fancier letter. I hope I explained it right!?
    The idea is very nice!

  10. In answer to your questions the bag has an inital and you can choose your initial.

I did not think about the bags without the initial but think that this is a good idea :-)

    I really appreciate your input.

  14. Absolutely Yes!
I use bags similar to this ( not half as nice though) for daily shopping. Living in a city , carrying home various things during the day, I need bags for Things in addition to my purse. I roll them up and stick them in my bag until they are needed.
Yours are so nice I would use them all the time!
    Initial C please :)

  15. YES!!! I love them! I would love to get one now!

  16. Love the bag! I want to give one to my mom for Christmas!

  17. I love everything linen, and this is no exception. Perfect for carrying magazine and other necessities.
    Have a nice day.

  18. $39 us and personalized! I think that is a bargain! oui!

  19. Yes -love the linen bag, but agree with Simony, I would like the initial in a different font. perhaps one could choose between this modern and a more ornate font? the prise is good too, and I would consider getting as gifts for different friends...

  20. Hi Leeann,

I also love the linen bag and would be such a useful bag to take to the store for groceries.

    Happy weekend

  21. How could they be more perfect!
    Love them!

  27. Super versatile bag and a perfect match for your shop.
    What are the dimensions please?
I clicked for a 'close-up' of the fabric and it looks great - LOve that colour!

French food Friday...Honey Lavender Icecream

I first tried this in Provence and loved the combination of the lavender and the honey.

For those of you that have seen the movie it's complicated you will recall that Merryl Streep made it for Steve Martin and it really looked great.

By using honey as opposed to sugar you end up with icecream that is deliciously creamy and the smoothest ice cream you've ever tasted.

Be warned, though - there is a caveat...this ice cream will not freeze as well as homemade ice cream usually does. For those of you who like your ice cream hard freeze the ice cream overnight to make it scoopable, instead of the standard two to three hours after churning

1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup dried lavender
4 egg yolks
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream

1. Bring the milk, cream, honey, and lavender to a gentle boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.

2. Remove from the heat and let steep for 10-15 minutes. Strain and let cool a bit.

3.In a separate medium bowl, beat the egg yolks, then gradually add som…

a good idea..

Bonjour from a sunny but chilly SW France,

Hope that you had a nice weekend. We spent yesterday afternoon at a furniture auction but I will tell you more about that later in the week.

Last weekend we bought a lot of wine cases as we thought that they would make good storage, as shown in the photo above.

I particularly liked the idea of making a set of drawers with them or perhaps even a serving tray like this.

We have quite a few boxes and wine box ends so any ideas that you have would be gratefully received...
Mille mercis et bonne semaine a tous.....

French Food Friday.....

This week we are taking a break from the skinny theme, and indulging in some healthy pears with some also very healthy chocolate....

About Poires Belle Hélène

This classic French recipe were invented Paris in the 19th century and were named after an opera by Offenbach. What a romantic introduction for this French dessert par excellence, a true classic, found in at least half of the restaurants of the Hexagone. It only takes a few minutes to assemble this dish if you use ready-made ingredients; it is actually not much longer to prepare half of them from scratch (the poached pears and the melted chocolate). You can even make crème Chantilly and toasted flaked almonds for a deluxe version on very special occasions.

About Poires William liqueur

A pear flavoured liqueur. Liqueur is a class of spirit that is usually sweet and often served after dinner. It is produced by either mixing or redistilling spirits with natural ingredients such as fruits, plants, flowers, or chocolate. Sugar must be at…
