Coco avant Chanel.......

Yesterday afternoon after finishing my painting, I decided to treat myself to the luxury of watching a girly DVD before Mr FF returned from work.

I decided that by watching the movie in French, it would also double as French homework.

What a fabulous movie, I loved everything about it - the fabulous and oh so french houses, gorgeous costumes and the fabulous and chic Coco. I love the word "coco", it somehow rolls of the top of your tongue.

The attention to detail is fabulous, what fun they must have had working on this movie set.

Love the tables, chairs and gorgeous lamps. Not forgetting how fabulous Audrey Tautou looks in this chic outfit.....

Simply fabulous, in every sense of the word!

I love everything in this photo, books, couch, fabulous suit and gorgeous shoes.....tres chic!

I do not want to give too much away in case any of you have not already seen this fabulous movie, but it is safe to say that I shed a tear and her life reminded me somewhat of Edith Piaf's who also suffered a great loss and never fully recovered.

They say that it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved, but such loss must make one very, very sad or as they say in French "très triste".

Did you like the movie as much as I did?

p.s. I am back to painting this afternoon....no movie for me today!

  2. Yes I loved this movie also. I waited until hubby went to bed so i could immerse myself in it. The only thing I nearly couldnt bear after a while was the smoking but other than that I enjoyed to watch a story I hadnt heard before.

One of the next weekends (the first sunny one...) I'm coming to France, to Nice....Can't wait!! I will do some shopping for my home... Maison du Monde is a great "invention", I can put a touch of french to my home thanks to it....

  4. Love Love Love this movie! I love everything about it and especially Audrey Tautou. My only criticism is that the later part of Coco's life whizzes by at a speed of knots on the screen... I could have sat in the cinema and watched a little longer!

  6. I did! I loved this movie too and watched it about a week after watching the Edith Piaf movie. Such strong women and similar pain. Audrey Tatou is amazing in everything I've seen her in. It's a girl movie for sure...I didn't even try to get my husband to watch with me and I enjoyed it all by myself. :)

  7. It is a wonderful movie! Coco was such a strong woman, when all odds were against her. The film is quite a feast for the eye, as well as a great story. I haven't seen the film about Edith Piaf-- will have to check that one out. Have a lovely day! :)

  9. I saw this movie for the first time on the airplane on my way home from Paris. It was a lovely way to extend my Parisian trip for another 2 hours. I'm a real fan of Audrey Tautou. She's so exquisitely Parisian, n'est-ce pas?
